When you’re looking for a way to “convince” customers that you’re the right company for them, you need to make sure that you hold the right values that actually make you an excellent business partner. So what are those values? They can occasionally be tricky to define, but here are a couple that are usually sought after among potential clients.
Trust
Your client may not even seen trustworthy, but in most cases, trust them anyway. Extend your trust to them and watch their actions. Don’t start with huge things – like giving them the keys to your office – but small things instead. Talk about something that happened to you in the past, or chat about your friends and family. Show a bit of openness and vulnerability and see what works for them on a personal level. You can gain tons of insight about people if you see how they listen to you and how they talk about themselves, too.
Give Your Client the Benefit of the Doubt
Your client has likely gone through a lot in their lives, and everything that’s ever happened has formed the person they are today. That includes their reactions and how they speak to people. It’s very, very rare you run into someone who is legitimately a bad person. Most of the time people just need some understanding. Keeping this in mind, the next time you talk to a client that may seem like they demand a lot, give them the benefit of the doubt. Understand that even though you disagree with them that it doesn’t mean you can’t work together. Everyone has something about them that may irritate other people. Find a way to work through it so you can form a stronger professional bond with one another.
