Finding a way to be more productive can be a struggle in the business world, but that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible. Productivity often comes from within, and from employing methods that may not be entirely obvious. Here are a few tips to help you get started.
Don't Break the Chain
Jerry Seinfeld, beloved comedian and actor, has recently come up with an excellent productivity method that's blown up in many areas of business. It's called "don't break the chain." This new method consists of very simple rules that everyone can follow. All you have to do is cross a date off your calendar or check a box when you've gone a day accomplishing your goal. For example, if you want to quit fast food, you simply cross off every day that you successfully avoid fast food. The effectiveness of the method comes from the reluctance to break the chain of success. There are many applications available that employ this method, including MyChain, DailyDeeds and Wonderful Day. MyChain even comes with a widget that can help you track your progress on your home screen.
Think Paperless
Bill Gates, who is now a retired billionaire, once said that the most effective method for him when it comes to productivity is simply going paperless. Going paperless is such a key component because everything moves faster when it doesn’t have to be printed out and looked at. If a piece of work needs to be edited or a piece of code needs to be checked for errors, it’s much easier to send a file via email and have it sent back instead of printing it, sending it down to another department, and sending it back. No paper will help keep things organized, reduce clutter, and streamline work.
