Tom Ogilvie has worked with us for 17 years, since 2001. He is very knowledgeable about many parts of our computer network system, both hardware and software, including LAN, WAN and SDWAN. I believe this is one of Tom's strengths because it is very critical that your network is designed to meet your daily needs and his expertise in these various areas is necessary to put together a well-functioning system. Tom keeps himself up to date with the current technology by attending technology conferences and regularly participating in online educational conferences. He is also a member of various IT groups that brainstorm and share ideas.
Our law firm has four offices. We have local area networks in two locations. All offices are connected by VPN and terminal servers so that all attorneys and staff can share and access data both in the offices and while traveling. Tom has been part of the whole process in setting this up. He is involved in all aspects of the computer system, including making decisions on hardware and software purchases, choosing the internet providers, the daily monitoring of the servers and workstations, and designing the network system to best fit the needs of the company. Every time we have to add or modify any part of the system, he would ask a lot of questions and he will listen to our input to ensure that what we implement will achieve our goals and needs.
Another strength that I appreciate about Tom is that he cares about his work. He does not stop until an issue that he is handling is resolved. He takes pride in what he does and he makes sure we are satisfied with his work. He regularly is in touch with us to make sure that the system is performing well.
